link removal requestsGoogle has been sending messages to webmasters who use Google Webmaster Tools about Unnatural Linking, and recommending certain links should be removed. In addition, they have added a new tool in Webmaster Tools called Disavow Links.

When it comes to directories, it is important to recognize there are people who work hard to maintain many of these directories, and while it is possible some directories contain many spam links, making this assumption is something some directory owners may take personally as many have spent 100s if not 1000s of hours developing their resource.

If you have a link in one or more directories that google has flagged as unnatural, it may not be the individual directory’s fault. It may be the result as a result of you or someone you hired to do Search Engine Optimization (SEO) work engaging in a scheme to submit to many, many directories. Additionally, in our reviews of such sites there were often very low quality links on non-directory sites as well.

If it is your intention to contact a directory owner, please understand that phplinkdirectory.com is the maker of directory software, and we do not have control over the directories, nor do we have a way to help you contact them. Probably the best way would be a whois lookup and email the site owner. Even if there is private registration, you can still contact the administrative contact who will likely forward your request.

Finally, please again realize that many of these directory owners work hard and make a living with their directory. You may wish to offer a small contribution to them for their time helping you get the link removed or changed.
