We all fall into patterns in life, and one such pattern is the words we choose to speak and write. When we use the same words over and over, the lack of diversity can play a role in our search results. Not everyone uses the same words, and augmenting our normal vocabulary with varying, but well placed, words and phrases will surely bring about more traffic.
A larger vocabulary need not require you to use unusual words rarely used by others. You might reference a thesaurus as you write, and you’ll find terms that make sense without a need for dramatic changes to your style. Just take heed of the notion that peoples’ vocabularies differ, and therefore their search habits may run counter to your expectations.
Undoubtedly, there may be some opportunities for more obscure words as well, but if you go too far, you may find your readers can’t interpret your crafty linguistics. In this case, you might get some additional traffic from search engines, but may lose your more earthly friends in the process. In any case, it can be both amusing and worthwhile to increase your phraseology, and make writing an adventure once again!
Now for phpLD sites, think about how you word your descriptions for sites in your link repository. Keep in mind that people often repeat the same text over many submissions, so when you change it and make it unique, you just increase your chances dramatically that it will be your site that gets traffic ahead of others, and it is your site that is recognized as an authority.
And of course a thesaurus was used in this exposition!
